SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—ADERO Scottsdale Resort, Autograph Collection has added master sommelier Robert R. Smith as its new F&B director. Smith is one of the world’s few professionals to hold the master sommelier title and currently the only one based in Arizona.

Smith’s appointment reflects the resort’s continued culinary expansion as part of its focus on luxury positioning and destination-driven experiences.

A wine authority and hospitality executive, Smith brings more than 20 years of leadership in luxury F&B operations. He has been recognized by the Court of Master Sommeliers as part of an elite global group and is known for his expertise in wine knowledge, service, and program development.

Smith’s career includes leadership roles at several high-profile properties, including the former two-time MICHELIN-starred Picasso at Bellagio in Las Vegas, where he oversaw a beverage program generating $5 million in annual revenue. He also directed regional F&B programming and growth initiatives for Wally’s Wine & Spirits, a hybrid restaurant, retail, and gourmet market with locations in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Las Vegas. His experience also includes positions at The Farnam, Autograph Collection and Oceana Santa Monica, LXR Hotels & Resorts.

In his new role, Smith will oversee all F&B operations at the resort, with a focus on enhancing the guest experience through culinary programming that reflects his global expertise and the resort’s own sense of identity.

“Robert’s appointment marks a defining step forward for ADERO’s food and beverage program,” says ADERO Scottsdale Resort general manager Adam Stanchina. “His depth of expertise, global perspective, and intuitive approach to guest experience will help elevate every touchpoint, from thoughtfully curated wine programming to dynamic culinary moments.”

Located in the Adero Canyon, ADERO Scottsdale Resort is set on 17 acres above the Sonoran Desert and is the only Autograph Collection hotel in a certified International Dark Sky Community. The property features 177 guest rooms, including 16 suites and 32 casita-style accommodations, along with dining venues, a spa, pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and access to outdoor recreation such as hiking, biking, and golf.
