Albuquerque’s Burgeoning Culinary Scene

In early 2025, visitors can expect the debut of the new Park Square Market, Albuquerque’s latest food hall.

New Nuevo Sips & Bites Culinary Excursions offers monthly immersive culinary experiences featuring local mixologists and chefs showcasing Albuquerque’s food and beverage scene.

Ex Novo Brewing Company opened in August 2024 as an 11,000-square-foot building with two different spaces: a full-service taproom and restaurant with a large patio, and a bar and café/deli.

Itality at Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is the country’s first Indigenous and woman-owned vegan restaurant.

“Hailing from Jemez Pueblo, owner/chef Tina Archuleta learned that plant food is Native food and was exposed to foods like squash, beans, corn, and amaranth, which have been sustaining Indigenous communities for generations,” says Lydia Eason, media specialist for New Mexico Tourism Department.

Viva Vino Wine Studio in the heart of Old Town is a new space designed to immerse visitors into New Mexico’s vibrant wine culture. It offers an intimate setting for wine lovers to experience the rich heritage and craftsmanship behind the state’s thriving wine industry. The wine studio will serve as the center for wine education and wine-tasting experiences, allowing guests to explore a carefully curated selection of New Mexico wine.

Lost Cultures Tea Bar crafts the finest health-conscious, tea-based drinks, with a menu showcasing a variety of unique flavors, from fragrant teas to expertly brewed kombucha and specially crafted non-alcoholic cocktails.

Stackers Burger Co. in 505 Food Hall is the brainchild of Tikka Spice owner Basit Gauba, a James Beard Award semi-finalist, and Edible Magazine’s Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown winner.

The recently opened Wing It Up serves wings with signature recipes, crafted with only the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection.

The Forage Café features vending machines stocked with local fresh-food items, a little free library, and outdoor seating. All proceeds support Meals on Wheels New Mexico.

Café Chica, a woman-owned donut shop in the El Vado courtyard, opened in late 2023. The café specializes in Bombolini, an Italian brioche donut, along with beignets and Belgian liege waffles. Café Chica also boasts a robust drink menu, which includes coffee, tea, and even Barbie lemonade (complete with edible glitter).

Sweets Soda Fountain is one of several new offerings at Sawmill Market. Sweets reimagines the soda-fountain experience as a modern sweet bar. The menu focuses on beverages, with refreshing Italian sodas, floats, and even Prosecco on tap. The modern-day soda fountain also offers bonbons, French macarons, and cotton candy.

Another new Sawmill Market, Frenchies Sandwiches offers a modern take on French-dip sandwiches, including prime rib and portobello mushroom. Diners can get tots on the side smothered in green chile queso.
