LOS ANGELES—The landmark Mondrian Los Angeles hotel on the Sunset Strip is entering a new era as it reopens under a new name and brand affiliation. Now known as The Valorian Los Angeles, the property combines its longstanding cultural presence with an updated guest experience in West Hollywood.

Originally opened in 1996 as the Mondrian, the hotel became known for its distinctive design and popularity among entertainment and creative industry figures. A major redesign in 2018 reinforced its position as a prominent destination along Sunset Boulevard.

The hotel is operated by Pivot, a lifestyle operating group of Davidson Hospitality Group, and joins Curio Collection by Hilton, a portfolio of independent hotels within the Hilton brand. This affiliation allows the property to retain its individual identity while gaining access to Hilton’s global booking platform and Hilton Honors loyalty program.

“The Valorian is a natural fit for Curio Collection by Hilton,” says Brooke Thomas, brand leader at Curio Collection by Hilton. “It captures the creative spirit and cultural energy that define West Hollywood while delivering a one-of-a-kind experience that is deeply rooted in its location. That is exactly the kind of experience Curio Collection is built to offer across its growing global portfolio.”

Randy Diamond, regional vice president of operations for Pivot, adds, “The Valorian marks the next evolution of a hotel that has long helped define the Sunset Strip. We are preserving the edge, creativity, and sense of occasion that made this property iconic, while elevating the guest experience through a refined new identity, Hilton’s global platform, and the introduction of White Rabbit Sky Lounge for the next era of West Hollywood.”

The hotel retains many of its signature design elements, including a dramatic entrance and interiors characterized by bold colors, layered textures, and atmospheric lighting. A rotating program of art installations and cultural events will continue as part of its offerings.

Guest rooms and suites feature a modern aesthetic introduced in the earlier renovation, along with views of the Sunset Strip, the Hollywood Hills, and downtown Los Angeles. The property also includes a range of suite options designed for extended stays and special occasions.

A key component of the relaunch is the debut of White Rabbit Sky Lounge, which replaces the former SkyBar rooftop venue. The redesigned space offers panoramic city views alongside updated programming intended to transition from daytime lounging to evening events, with new seasonal experiences and a revised cocktail menu planned.

The hotel’s restaurant, Casa Madera, will continue operating as part of the property’s dining lineup.
