
SALT LAKE CITY—Sports Salt Lake has promoted Cassidy Thomas to director of operations, expanding her leadership role with the sports tourism division of Visit Salt Lake.
Thomas previously served as Sports Salt Lake’s sports operations manager, where she focused on improving internal processes, project management, and financial operations. In her new role, she will oversee day-to-day operations and continue developing systems designed to improve efficiency and communication.
“Cassidy brings a unique mix of organization, problem-solving, and creativity to everything she touches,” says Clay Partain, chief sports officer of Sports Salt Lake. “Her dedication to refining our systems has kept our initiatives moving in the right direction, and we are excited to see her step into this expanded leadership role.”
Thomas, originally from North Carolina, has a background in project management and finance and has worked to develop operational systems intended to help the organization manage its initiatives and maintain consistency across its work.
She recently earned the Sports Tourism Strategist (STS) designation through the Sports Events & Tourism Association, adding an industry credential to her experience in sports tourism operations.
Sports Salt Lake is a division of Visit Salt Lake, the destination sales and experience organization responsible for attracting conventions, meetings, sporting events, and leisure travel to the region. The organization works with Salt Lake County, hotels, members, and public-sector partners to support the area’s visitor economy.
Sports Salt Lake focuses specifically on attracting and supporting sports and athletic events in Salt Lake County, leveraging the area’s combination of downtown amenities and access to the Wasatch Mountains.
