Nestled in the majestic Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe’s South Shore offers a memorable meeting and event experience. “The South Shore of Lake Tahoe is a destination built for peak experiences,” says Stuart Maas, senior director of marketing and business development for South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe offers modern facilities set against an inspiring, natural landscape. The South Shore combines a flexible event center with a compact resort district and a setting that naturally fuels connection, creativity, and well-being. “Planners tell us their programs land differently here: Attendees are more engaged, more energized, and more willing to participate because they’re surrounded by alpine scenery, fresh air, and resort-level amenities,” Maas says.
Whether it’s teambuilding on the lake, après-ski networking around a firepit, or enjoying Tahoe’s diverse range of activities, such as lake cruises, mountaintop gondola rides, themed dinner shows, or championship golf, events here leave a lasting impression. “Our niche is offering the advantages of a compact, fully supported meetings district in a setting that feels worlds away,” Maas says, “and that combination keeps planners returning year after year.”
The South Shore of Lake Tahoe’s recent wave of renovations elevates the destination for meetings and events. Caesars Republic Resort opened in 2025 following a $160 million remodel of Harveys Lake Tahoe, now featuring new guest rooms and refreshed amenities. Golden Nugget updated its lobby and guest rooms, while Margaritaville Resort completed a full rebrand and remodel, giving the casino corridor a notable glow-up. Boutique properties have also enhanced their offerings, with expansions at the Coachman Hotel and Black Bear Lodge. Beach Retreat and Lodge is closed while undergoing a complete renovation and rebrand.
These recent renovations and new openings add to the South Shore’s robust inventory of hotel and meeting space to accommodate groups of all sizes. In total, the area offers approximately 10,000 guest rooms, complemented by a variety of meeting facilities. Bally’s Lake Tahoe features 438 guest rooms and 42,134 square feet of meeting space across six rooms, including a 16,000-square-foot main ballroom. Hotel Becket provides 165 guest rooms and 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, while Lakeland Village offers 260 guest rooms and 1,287 square feet across its meeting spaces. The Marriott Grand Residence Club features 299 guest rooms and 1,577 square feet of meeting space, and Tahoe Ridge Resort boasts 641 guest rooms with 10,117 square feet of meeting space. Zephyr Point Conference Center has 337 guest rooms and 7,137 square feet of meeting space across 15 rooms, and Tahoe Blue Event Center offers 47,000 square feet of versatile space in 10 rooms.
South Lake Tahoe’s appeal goes far beyond meeting spaces and accommodations, offering a variety of fresh and creative group experiences. Teams can take gondola rides to mountaintop viewpoints, enjoy private lake cruises complete with charcuterie and wine tasting, or embrace adventure with ropes courses, e-mountain bike tours, and winter tubing sessions. Tahoe Craft Labs provides custom crafting projects, perfect for a hands-on break in the agenda.
There are also opportunities for wellness-focused experiences designed to leave attendees feeling energized and connected, including sunset lakeside yoga and scenic alpine forest hikes. Planners can also incorporate meaningful corporate social responsibility activities, such as planting sugar pine saplings or participating in beach cleanups. “With year-round indoor and outdoor experiences—from beach and snow play to magic shows, educational programming at Taylor Creek Recreation Area, arcades, and family favorites like Heavenly’s Mountain Coaster and ropes course—South Lake Tahoe is known for being family-friendly,” Maas adds.
Getting to and around South Lake Tahoe is easy and convenient. Lake Link, a free public micro-transit system, provides quick and reliable rides throughout the area—perfect for navigating the resort district or hopping between events. South Tahoe Airporter offers convenient transportation to and from Reno-Tahoe International Airport, approximately an hour away.
