Reno-Sparks (Nev.) Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) has named Mike Larragueta as its new president and CEO, following a vote by the board of directors. Larragueta had served as interim president and CEO for RSCVA for the past nine months.
With nearly three decades of industry experience—including executive sales positions at Reno properties and Las Vegas resorts, such as The Venetian and The Palazzo—Larragueta has been with RSCVA since early 2017. During his tenure with the RSCVA, Larragueta spearheaded such initiatives as developing an indoor track facility at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and advocating for increased air service and event diversity in northern Nevada.
Larragueta stepped into the interim role of RSCVA president and CEO after the departure of former CEO Charles Harris, in 2023. With his official appointment as president and CEO, Larragueta plans to emphasize such priorities as promoting diversity and inclusion, enhancing staff morale, implementing innovative technology, and increasing airlift to the region. “I’m grateful for the confidence of the board and for the continued support of this very talented team, who are focused on generating tourism and improving the quality of life for everyone in northern Nevada,” he says. “Reno Tahoe is my home; my family is here, and I intend to spend the rest of my life here. I’m proud to be able to serve this destination and this community.”
