Visitors can enjoy a walking tour of its three historic districts, which feature parks, adobe-style missions, including San Miguel Mission, Garcia Opera House, and notable homes and buildings. Socorro’s history dates to the 1800s, with many of its buildings going back to that era.
Nature lovers can visit Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, San Lorenzo Canyon, Box Canyon and other nature sites.
The 10,936-square-foot City of Socorro Convention Center has three breakout rooms and a large room divisible into three sections.
Located on the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) campus,€Macey Center is a 615-seat, fully equipped theater and conference center. The facility is available for conferences, meetings, performances, and other special events. It features elegant catering by NMT’s Chartwells Catering, an art gallery, and scenic mountain views.
Socorro has several hotels, including the 77-room Holiday Inn Express Socorro, an IHG Hotel with a 420-square-foot conference room; Comfort Inn & Suites, which also has a meeting room; Best Western Socorro Hotel & Suites; Days Inn by Wyndham Socorro; and Baymont by Wyndham Socorro.
