INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev.—Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino has promoted Matt Luke to group experience lead for the resort’s Adventure program, expanding its focus on outdoor activities and teambuilding experiences for meetings and events.

Luke has more than 15 years of experience leading outdoor adventures, corporate teambuilding programs, and guided excursions. In his new role, he will oversee the development and execution of adventure experiences designed specifically for groups, meetings, and corporate retreats at the North Lake Tahoe resort.

“We are thrilled to promote Matt to lead our group adventure program,” says Andrew DeLapp, resort manager at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. “His extensive background creating engaging group activities makes him an invaluable asset to our team as we continue to expand our offerings for meetings and events.”

Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Luke studied hospitality management at SUNY Brockport before beginning a career in outdoor recreation. He worked in southwestern Pennsylvania, guiding zipline tours, ropes courses, off-road driving experiences, and rock-climbing excursions during the summer while serving as a certified ski patroller during the winter.

He later relocated to southwestern Montana, where he led outdoor experiences at a dude ranch, including fly-fishing excursions, sporting clay trap shooting, and snowmobile tours.

Luke joined Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe’s Adventure team two years ago. His promotion comes as the resort continues to expand its group programming, which has become an increasingly important component of its meetings and events offerings.

“I am excited to continue my career working with the incredible team at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, while building memorable experiences that showcase our incredible destination,” Luke says. “Whether it’s a teambuilding activity, wellness experience, or an outdoor adventure, my goal is to help groups connect, collaborate, and enjoy their time together in a meaningful way.”

The resort launched its Adventure program in 2020 to provide outdoor, socially distanced activities during the pandemic. The program proved popular with guests and has since become a permanent amenity.

Current group experiences include mindfulness workshops, meditative walks through the Tahoe pines, paint-and-sip workshops, the Taste of the Sierras cocktail-making class, a disco climbing wall, and the Build-a-Boat Regatta. During the regatta, teams build boats using cardboard, duct tape, and trash bags before racing them across the resort pool.

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe offers more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space. Indoor meeting facilities include the Regency Ballroom, Spa Terrace Conference Center, and speakeasy-style Guests Only lounge, while outdoor venues include the Water Gardens, Creekside Lawn, and Stillwater Garden.
