LAS VEGAS—As part of the celebration of the new OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar at Caesars Palace and the resort’s 60th anniversary, Caesars Palace will feature professional freestyle motocross rider and 12-time X Games medalist Colby Raha attempting a world-record motorcycle jump over the resort’s front fountains. The jump, scheduled for 2 p.m., May 17, will pay tribute to Evel Knievel’s famous 1967 motorcycle stunt attempt at the same location on the Las Vegas Strip. Raha aims to surpass his own world record for the highest vertical motorcycle jump, reaching more than 100 feet.
The stunt is being produced by Record Breakers, the live-action sports company founded by Raha, in partnership with Tao Group Hospitality and Caesars Palace.
“OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar is already setting a new standard for what Las Vegas day life can be, and there’s no better way to announce that to the world than with Colby Raha launching over the same fountains that made Evel Knievel a legend,” says Tao Group Hospitality co-CEO Jason Strauss. “This is the kind of moment that only happens in Las Vegas and only at Caesars Palace. We couldn’t be more proud to kick off a new era with a partner as iconic as Caesars.”
The jump coincides with the opening weekend of OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar, a new 46,000-square-foot entertainment complex on Las Vegas Boulevard connected to OMNIA Nightclub by a dedicated bridge. The venue is designed to create a combined day-to-night entertainment experience spanning 121,000 square feet.
“Over the last 60 years, Caesars Palace has orchestrated iconic events that have resonated across the globe, cementing the resort’s role as a leading player in Las Vegas’ rise to one of the most visited destinations in the world,” says Sean McBurney, CCO and regional president of Caesars Entertainment.
“We’ve continually redefined the luxury experience through intentional enhancements to the resort, and we’re elated to introduce OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar with our tremendous partners at Tao Group Hospitality. This dynamic addition reflects our ongoing commitment to create unforgettable memories for our guests to last another six decades and beyond.”
Raha’s jump will take place in view of guests attending the venue’s opening weekend festivities, which run May 15-17 and feature performances from electronic music artists Fisher, Rüfüs du Sol, and Martin Garrix.
The Caesars Palace fountains remain one of the most recognizable sites in motorcycle stunt history because of Knievel’s failed 1967 jump attempt, which ended in a crash but became an enduring part of Las Vegas lore. Organizers said members of the Knievel family are supporting Raha’s attempt.
“Attempting a jump at the same location where Evel Knievel made his historic attempt carries real meaning,” Raha says. “It’s an opportunity to push limits at one of the most iconic locations in stunt history at one of the most iconic resorts in Las Vegas.”
Raha is known for freestyle motocross performances and vertical motorcycle stunt records. The May 17 event is expected to combine live entertainment and action sports in a large-scale public spectacle tied to Caesars Palace’s anniversary celebration.
