TonopahNevada.com; @TonopahNevada—Tonopah is situated halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. Its unique blend of small-town charm and rich history makes it an exceptional destination for hosting meetings and events. This former mining boomtown is steeped in heritage and hospitality, providing a welcoming atmosphere and a slower pace—perfect for fostering connections, creativity, and productivity.
The community offers approximately 465 total guest rooms with a wide range of accommodations and price points. Situated in the heart of Tonopah’s historic downtown is the 48-guest room Mizpah Hotel, Nevada’s first luxury hotel, built in 1907 and restored in 2011. Belvada Hotel, which originally housed Nevada State Bank & Trust, was built in 1906 and restored in 2020, offering 40 guest rooms. In addition, other hotel offerings include the 76-guest room Best Western Hi-Desert Inn, 30-guest room Clown Motel, 60-guest room Comfort Inn, 78-guest room Tonopah Station, 60-guest room Star Inn, 24-guest room
Jim Butler Inn & Suites, and 35-guest room Dream Inn.
Tonopah Convention Center, located just off Main Street, is within walking distance of many hotel properties. The facility includes four meeting rooms, two of which can be combined for larger events. “Our facility is ADA-approved and prepared to meet all audio, visual, banquet, cocktail, and entertainment requirements,” notes Mykela Roberts, administrative associate for Tonopah Convention Center. “We can provide the perfect environment for groups numbering 5 to 500, and we are equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi.”
Teambuilding and recreational opportunities are easy to find in Tonopah. One of its most popular attractions is Historic Mining Park, where visitors can take a guided tour to learn about the 113 original mining claims of the town’s founding father, Jim Butler. Another top attraction is Central Nevada Museum. “Providing that you are feeling daring, check out the world-famous Clown Motel, which sits next to the Old Miner’s Cemetery and dates from 1901 to 1911,” Roberts adds. “Grab a pamphlet and learn about the people laid to rest there. There is also a variety of ghost tours the Mizpah Hotel offers.”
Tonopah has a number of culinary staples popular with locals and tourists alike, Roberts shares. “For breakfast and lunch, Strawberry Hill Diner serves anything, from traditional breakfast to south of the border Mexican lunch,” she says. “Looking for a nice dinner? Check out Jack Dempsey Room, open nightly at Mizpah Hotel. More interested in pizza and beer? Look no further than Tonopah Brewing Company. Visitors needing a morning pick-me-up can get a coffee and breakfast at either Beans and Brew or Belvada Coffee Shop. Whatever you are looking for, we have it here.”
