LakefrontMeetings.com; @VisitLakeTahoeOfficial; @VisitLakeTahoe_OfficialNestled in the majestic Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe is a premier alpine destination blending natural beauty with year-round adventure. As North America’s largest alpine lake, it offers stunning scenery, endless outdoor activities, and versatile venues perfect for meetings, events, and retreats. “It has been, and will continue to be, the lake itself that captivates the hearts, inspiration, and creativity of groups,” notes Stuart Maas, senior director of marketing and business development for Visit Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe’s diverse outdoor recreation options create unforgettable experiences for meeting attendees, regardless of season. From kayaking, boating, and hiking in the warmer months to skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing in the winter, the region offers endless opportunities for adventure. For those seeking indoor fun, activities such as karaoke, mini-golf, axe-throwing, and escape rooms provide unique ways to bond. Complementing the adventure are vibrant entertainment options, including concerts, breweries, wine bars, firepit lounges, and restaurants ranging from casual to upscale dining. “Groups can make a challenge or competition to see how many sports you can fit in a single day, especially in the spring when you can snow ski and water ski/kayak and even golf in the same day,” Maas adds.

Lake Tahoe’s South Shore is experiencing a wave of investment and revitalization, with more than half a billion dollars fueling new developments, renovations, and expanded offerings. Tahoe Blue Event Center, a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue, is the centerpiece of this resurgence. Adding to the excitement, Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe opened in December 2023 as the brand’s first ski-destination property. The all-suite resort features 399 spacious rooms with separate living areas, wet bars, and dining spaces. Dining options include LandShark Bar & Grill, an indoor-outdoor eatery inspired by Atlantic Coast beach bars, and JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, an upscale yet laid-back fine-dining experience perfect for special occasions. Historic Camp Richardson Resort is also entering a new era under new management by ExplorUS, which has committed $12 million in renovations. Plans include updating the historic hotel’s furnishings, remodeling the general store, and upgrading cabins. The resort’s restaurant reopened in early 2024 with stunning lake views and a family-friendly atmosphere. The Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe (formerly Hard Rock Hotel) is undergoing a complete remodel, set for completion in early 2025. Enhancements include transformed guest rooms, new VIP suites and services, an upgraded hotel lobby, and state-of-the-art gaming options. Meanwhile, the Coachman Hotel has completed renovations to all 103 guest rooms and suites, with new Business Suites including work-friendly layouts, smart TVs, and adaptable desks, while larger suites accommodate families and groups.

In addition to the many exciting updates, Lake Tahoe is also a destination that makes going car-free entirely doable, Maas adds. “From Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s baggage claim, South Tahoe Airporter offers round-trip motor coach service directly to South Shore major hotels, providing travelers with a car-free vacation,” he says. “The app-based Lake Link allows visitors and locals to request on-demand free rides in passenger vans on the main thoroughfares, popular trails, beaches, and marinas from Tahoe Blue Event Center/Nevada casinos to South Lake Tahoe, approximately three miles from the state line.”
