Marriott International’s Westin brand has debuted a newly renovated and renamed hotel in Sacramento, Calif. The newly named The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa, located along the historic Sacramento River, completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of all 101 guest rooms and suites, lobby, check-in area, and meeting spaces. The hotel is owned by Monarch Alternative Capital and operated by HHM Hotels.

Wilson Ishihara Design led the redesign, creating a modern atmosphere. The lobby features a live plant display and artwork inspired by the Sacramento River. The design includes natural materials, such as limestone, terrazzo, and white oak, complemented by sage and blush tones in the upholstery. Guests can explore a local artisan shop with handcrafted goods from Sacramento artists, and the hotel is the first in the area authorized to sell cigars on site.

The lobby area offers three refreshment options, including a latte and pastry bar and unlimited wine procured from nearby wineries, with the purchase of a wine card. A new marble check-in area offers “Westin WELL” water refill stations with alkaline, still, or sparkling water to refill the complimentary bottles provided at check-in.

The 101 guest rooms and suites—including four executive rooms, four junior suites, The Golden State Suite, and The Riverfront Suite—feature a neutral color palette with gray, brown, and navy tones. Each room includes a large flat-screen TV, mini fridge, coffee machine, and a Westin Heavenly® Bed for restorative sleep. Bathrooms feature marble counters, claw-foot bathtubs, separate showers, and White Tea bath products. The hotel’s carpets and hallways reflect the Sacramento River, with blue and gray wave patterns.

Scott’s Seafood on the River, located within the hotel, offers a menu of sustainably harvested seafood, including Dungeness crab cakes, scallops, salmon, and a seafood tower. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

The hotel offers 7,887 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including three event rooms, two breakout rooms, and outdoor Portofino on the river. The Portofino space can accommodate up to 380 guests and is ideal for weddings, meetings, and banquets.

For relaxation, Spa La Lé offers a variety of treatments, and the fitness center includes new equipment, including treadmills, free weights, and a pulley tower. The hotel also features a heated outdoor pool, a whirlpool, and bicycle rentals for guests to enjoy along the river.

The hotel’s private marina is scheduled to open in spring 2025, providing additional event space, hosting movie nights and exclusive tastings, and accommodating boats docking for the day or overnight.

The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa is located at 4800 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, Calif.
