
LAS VEGAS—Resorts World Las Vegas has announced the formation of a new Board of Directors, with Jim Murren appointed as chairman and Alex Dixon as the new chief executive officer (CEO), effective Jan. 16. This leadership transition is a key part of the company’s strategy to further enhance its position as Las Vegas’ premier resort destination.
The new leadership team brings years of combined experience in the gaming industry, which will support Resorts World Las Vegas in advancing its growth strategy and achieving long-term objectives. The Board’s creation strengthens the company’s governance structure, reinforcing its commitment to providing guests with unparalleled experiences while driving business growth.
Jim Murren, former CEO and chairman of MGM Resorts, will take on the role of chairman of the Board. Murren brings deep global gaming and hospitality expertise, having led MGM Resorts through expansion. His leadership positions include roles with Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Cirque du Soleil, and Playstudios. He is also a trustee at Howard University. Murren expressed excitement about the opportunity to help guide Resorts World Las Vegas to further growth, saying, “The Board and I are excited to continue building on the strong foundation set by the executive leadership team.”
Dixon, a Las Vegas native, joins Resorts World Las Vegas after serving as CEO of Q Casino & Resort and Dubuque Racing Association. With more than 20 years of experience across global gaming, hospitality, entertainment, real estate, and banking, Dixon has held leadership roles at MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment Corp., and Goldman Sachs & Co. He is known for his expertise in teambuilding, real estate development, and revitalizing legacy brands. Dixon will oversee the operations and strategic initiatives of Resorts World Las Vegas in his new role.

The newly formed Board includes three additional members: A.G. Burnett, former chairman of Nevada Gaming Control Board; Michelle DiTondo, a seasoned human resources leader with experience at MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment; and Kong Han Tan, president and chief operating officer of Genting Berhad, the parent company of Resorts World Las Vegas.
