Landmark Hotels Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 9 to begin construction on the Hyatt Place Sonoma Wine Country. The event, attended by local community members and project stakeholders, follows more than five years of work to secure entitlements and final permits.

The Hyatt Place Sonoma Wine Country will be located near Charles Schulz Sonoma County Airport and is expected to open in late 2026. Designed by Lowney Architecture and with interiors by DLR Group, the project includes 165 units, meeting spaces, a pool, a fitness center, and a rooftop restaurant and bar. Charles Pankow Builders is the general contractor, and Norcal Engineering is the civil engineer.

The hotel will feature accommodations with a regional design palate, with guest rooms featuring distinct zones for sleep, work, and play. These guest rooms have been designed to comfort all travelers—individuals, corporate or leisure travelers, and families. The hotel will also feature large suites with views facing the Sonoma hills.

Hyatt Place Sonoma Wine Country will also incorporate an elevated lobby style and meeting spaces to attract travelers with attractive spaces for socializing and networking. The lobby will have a bar serving locally crafted wines, beer, spirits, Starbucks coffee drinks, and a 24/7 To Go corner.

A pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and a Sonoma country garden will add to the hotel’s Wine Country charm. A rooftop bar and restaurant with views of arriving and departing flights will offer guests and Sonoma County residents a new stimulating dining experience. The restaurant will feature an Italian/Mediterranean menu for lunch and dinner.

Shawn Sweeney, president of Landmark Hotels, commented, “We expect the hotel to be completed and receive its first guests by late 2026. We celebrate with our project partners and the community and thank everyone who has contributed to making this groundbreaking happen.”
