Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colo., has submitted plans for a significant expansion. The proposal includes adding a 47,000-square-foot indoor addition to its waterpark and adding 450 guest rooms, increasing the hotel’s capacity to 1,950 rooms. The expansion is planned for a parking lot southeast of the hotel, removing nearly 300 self-parking spots and reducing the available parking spaces to 2,376.

The new waterpark, named Soundwaves, will be located to the west of a new guest room tower and will connect to the existing indoor pool building. It is designed to resemble the waterpark at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tenn. Additionally, a new concourse is expected to feature retail space for Soundwaves merchandise, a coffee shop with a terrace, and seating areas.

The 85-acre property is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. and is part of the Marriott Bonvoy brand.
