LAS VEGAS—The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has added two explosive-detection K-9s to its security unit at the Las Vegas Convention Center: Olaf, a yellow Labrador Retriever, and Mufasa, a black Labrador Retriever.
The new K-9s join a four-dog unit, with each dog paired with a dedicated K-9 officer. The unit is part of the convention center’s larger security department, which includes approximately 70 full-time security officers.
The K-9 unit provides an additional layer of security across the Las Vegas Convention Center’s 200-acre campus, supporting the LVCVA’s efforts to maintain a safe environment for show organizers, convention attendees, and employees.
Olaf and Mufasa replace K-9s Bo and Wells, both black Labrador Retrievers, following their retirement in November.
The 4.6 million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center hosts major trade shows, including CES, CONEXPO-CON/AGG, and the SEMA Show. The facility is on pace to host 45 trade shows and more than 1.21 million trade show attendees in 2026.
