Glenwood Springs, Colo.—Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has announced the opening of Hotel 1888, a new lodging offering in the resort’s historic Stone Bath House. The hotel will open on June 12, with reservations now being accepted.
Hotel 1888 features 16 guest rooms, including two suites—the Silver Kings Suite and Suite 1888. Each room includes high ceilings, large windows, and updated bathrooms. The Silver Kings Suite consists of a private balcony with a view of the Grand Pool, while Suite 1888 offers an original fireplace and views of the Colorado River and downtown Glenwood Springs.
The hotel’s design incorporates the resort’s past elements, including blue walls, patterned wallpaper, and artwork featuring historical artifacts. Guests will receive complimentary breakfast at the 1888 Bistro, daily access to the mineral hot springs’ pools, and entry to the full-service athletic club. These amenities are located within the Stone Bath House, which was built in 1888 using sandstone from a local quarry. Austrian architect Theodore von Rosenberg originally designed the bath house, which previously housed soaking tubs, a physician’s office, a casino, and social rooms.
Hotel 1888 opens alongside a complete renovation of the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. The Lodge’s 107 rooms and suites were updated in March with new linens, fixtures, lighting, and décor reflecting a modern mountain aesthetic. Design elements include wood and brass accents and a neutral color scheme of gray, black, white, and taupe.
Additionally, the resort opened the Yampah Mineral Baths in May 2024. Located on the east side of the main pool, the facility features five pools of varying temperatures, including two cold plunges for contrast therapy. The area is open to all ages until 5 p.m., after which it becomes adults-only.
Water for the resort’s pools comes from the on-site Yampah Source Spring, which produces 3.5 million gallons daily. Pools are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours in the summer. Access is included with overnight stays, and no reservations are required.
