SAN DIEGO—The Margot Hotel has opened in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter as one of the first properties under Outset Collection by Hilton, a new lifestyle brand focused on independent boutique hotels with local character. Located near Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center, the 135-suite property is positioned to serve both leisure and convention travelers seeking an upscale, residential-style stay in downtown San Diego.
“The Margot Hotel is a strong addition to our growing portfolio,” says Elizabeth Scruggs, brand leader, Outset Collection by Hilton. “Outset Collection was designed to reflect how today’s travelers want to experience a destination in a thoughtful, locally rooted, and connected way. Located in San Diego’s Gaslamp neighborhood, The Margot delivers just that with a sense of place that is both authentic and story-led.”
The hotel features spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens, open floor plans, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Amenities include an eighth-floor terrace with lounge seating and firepits, a 24-hour fitness center, valet parking, and pet-friendly accommodations.
The property was designed to create a more personalized guest experience through curated local recommendations, partnerships with nearby food vendors, and design elements inspired by Southern California living. An upcoming lobby bar is expected to further enhance the hotel’s social atmosphere with a curated beverage program.
The opening also marks the expansion of Hilton’s lifestyle and boutique portfolio through Outset Collection by Hilton, which currently has more than 60 U.S. hotels in development.
“The Margot is exactly the kind of hotel Outset Collection was created for—one with a strong point of view, a sense of place, and a story worth telling,” says Kristi Allen, executive vice president of hotels at Ensemble, which manages the property. “We’re proud to support its success while letting its individuality lead.”
With its location adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center and within walking distance of dining, nightlife, and entertainment venues, The Margot Hotel is expected to appeal to meeting planners and attendees looking for a boutique alternative in the city’s convention district.
