GREATER PALM SPRINGS, Calif.—Visit Greater Palm Springs recognized individuals and organizations contributing to the region’s tourism sector at its annual Champions of Hospitality Awards, held November 20 at Palm Springs Convention Center.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians was honored with the Spirit of Tourism Award, which acknowledges leadership and commitment within the local tourism industry. The award highlights the tribe’s role in developing cultural and visitor-focused sites, including the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza, the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, The Spa at Séc-he, Tahquitz Canyon, the Indian Canyons, the Indian Canyons Golf Resort, and its resort and entertainment properties. The organization noted these initiatives continue to support tourism while maintaining the cultural heritage of the region. The Spirit of Tourism Award is the top recognition presented at the event.
Presented by Visit Greater Palm Springs and benefiting the Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation, the gala brings together hospitality professionals, partners, and community leaders from across the Coachella Valley. The event highlights tourism’s economic impact and raises funds for workforce development. This year, the Tourism Foundation will distribute $45,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing hospitality and tourism education. More than 300 nominations were submitted across the award categories.
“Champions of Hospitality is more than a celebration—it’s a reminder that our tourism industry thrives because of the people who make every visitor feel welcome,” said Scott White, president & CEO of Visit Greater Palm Springs. “We are proud to recognize the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians with the Spirit of Tourism Award for their enduring impact on our destination’s cultural, economic, and community vitality.”
