The Georgian hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., has appointed Philip Pavel as its new managing director. Pavel has more than 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, including two decades at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where he served as managing director.
Pavel’s work at Chateau Marmont earned him a reputation as “one of the most famous gatekeepers in Hollywood,” contributing to the hotel’s status as a Hollywood mainstay. After his tenure there, Pavel held executive roles at The NoMad Hotel in Los Angeles and Soho House, overseeing membership and communications on the West Coast. He also managed several luxury estates across California, Colorado, and Mexico.
Nicolo Rusconi, co-founder of BLVD Hospitality, praised Pavel’s appointment. “There are few people in the world who understand the intersection of culture and luxury hospitality better than Philip Pavel. His industry experience merged with his deep understanding of the fabric of Los Angeles and Hollywood make him a perfect fit for The Georgian,” she says.
In addition to his hospitality work, Pavel has been involved in the entertainment industry, with more than 40 credits as an actor in film and television. He also served as a board member of the nonprofit Center Theatre Group.
The Georgian, an 84-key hotel on Santa Monica’s Ocean Avenue, reopened in 2023 following extensive renovations and restoration by BLVD Hospitality.
