
Nicholas McDermott has been appointed as the new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, effective May 13.
McDermott joins The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco from The St. Regis Houston, where he served as general manager for four years. His leadership at The St. Regis Houston during the COVID-19 pandemic earned him recognition in the hospitality industry. Under his guidance, The St. Regis Houston achieved notable success, including significant improvements in top-line revenue, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization), operational efficiency, associate satisfaction scores, and the prestigious Western Region Talent Leadership Award at the General Managers’ Conference at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande in 2022. The award celebrates hotels that excel in engaging their associates with great leaders.
He brings to his new role a strong culinary background, with previous roles at The Westin Calgary and The Westin Boston Waterfront. He holds a Culinary Arts and Hospitality degree from City & Guild of London: Harlow College and East Hert’s College in England, along with other certifications.
