Sage Hospitality Group and Norwood Development Group have submitted a preliminary proposal to construct a new Catbird Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs, Colo. The proposed independent, full-service hotel will feature 180 rooms, dining options, and meeting spaces. It will be the second location for the Catbird brand, which launched its first hotel in Denver in 2021.
Sage Hospitality will manage the Catbird Hotel, which is expected to break ground in Spring 2025 and be completed by Fall 2027. It will be situated in the revitalized New South End neighborhood, known for its cultural and social developments, including new restaurants and art spaces.
Sage Studio, the in-house creative team at Sage Hospitality, will oversee the hotel’s concept and design. DLR Group will lead the design of guestroom interiors, while OMFGCo will handle the interior design of public spaces. Architectural design will be managed by JNS Architecture + Interior Design.
Daniel del Olmo, president of Sage Hospitality Group, emphasized the potential of Colorado Springs as a destination for both business and leisure. “We see tremendous potential in Colorado Springs as a dynamic destination that is welcoming business and leisure travelers,” he says. “Partnering with Norwood Development Group, with their deep local expertise and visionary approach, gives us great confidence that this hotel will be a transformative project for the city, and a valuable addition to our portfolio.”
Chris Jenkins, CEO of Norwood, expressed confidence in the partnership. “We view Catbird as the start of a new wave of hospitality projects brought to Colorado Springs through the exciting collaboration between Norwood and Sage.”
