The Resort at Pelican Hill, an Irvine Co.-owned property in Newport Beach, Calif., will be managed by Marriott International, beginning July 1. The decision to bring in new management was taken after a year-long strategic review of the 332-key property and its operations.

Irvine Co. will remain the owner of the hotel and Marriott plans to retain most employees, according to Orange County Business Journal.

Marriott will operate the 504-acre resort under its luxury division with the same name for now. However, it will later be added to the hotel firm’s St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand.

The Resort at Pelican Hill is Irvine Co.’s only hotel currently, having sold the newly named Hyatt Regency Irvine and Pendry Newport Beach properties following the COVID-19 pandemic.
