SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—Kimpton has opened Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley after completing a $42 million redevelopment of the former Scottsdale Plaza Resort in Paradise Valley, Ariz. Trinity Investments and Partners Group led the redevelopment. The opening marks Kimpton’s second hotel in Arizona.

The resort is now accepting guests following the completion of 224 guest rooms and 36 casitas in the first phase of redevelopment; later this year, the completion of additional villas and residential-style accommodations will expand the resort to 404 total guest accommodations. Situated between Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain, the 40-acre resort offers access to Old Town Scottsdale and nearby hiking trails.

Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley includes more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, six pools, a full-service spa, and several F&B venues. Kimpton added the Horizon Pavilion, a glass-enclosed event venue, along with outdoor lawns and terraces for meetings and social functions.

International design firm Saguez & Dash directed the redesign, emphasizing natural materials, open layouts, and strong connections between indoor spaces and the surrounding landscape. Designers oriented public areas toward mountain views and created a continuous flow from the arrival experience through the lobby and outdoor gathering spaces. Artist Mariella Motilla created The Loom, a large-scale textile installation that runs through the lobby, bar, and restaurant. Redesigned guest rooms and casitas feature a palette drawn from Sonoran Desert colors and textures. Accommodations range from king rooms to one-bedroom casitas with living areas and wet bars.

Across the grounds, the resort installed a series of permanent environmental art features known as the Desert Reveries. These installations include wind-driven sound elements, misting features along garden paths, and sculptural structures designed for sky viewing. The resort supports the installations with such programming as fitness classes, guided stargazing, and a monthly Salon Series focused on food, art, and culture.

Spa Miralina anchors the wellness offering with five treatment rooms, poolside massage areas, a salon, a sauna, and a cold plunge. A fitness pavilion connects directly to an outdoor terrace, where the resort hosts movement classes developed in collaboration with fitness coach Jordan Hill.

The resort’s culinary program centers on Hecho Libre, an all-day restaurant created by Chef Wes Avila in partnership with hospitality group sbe. James Beard semi-finalist and executive chef Stephen Jones oversees daily culinary operations across the property, including the pool bar, in-room dining, and event catering.
