IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has partnered with EnviroSpark to make electric vehicle (EV) chargers (EVCs) available at all IHG-branded hotels across the United States and Canada. This agreement will expand on IHG’s existing network of 1,100 hotels with EVCs, meeting the increasing customer demand for EV charging options.
The EVCs at IHG-branded hotels in North America cater to travelers requiring overnight charging. In addition to this infrastructure, IHG has integrated an EVC search filter and mapping features into its IHG One Rewards mobile app. This move is particularly advantageous in light of Goldman Sachs Research’s prediction of EVs representing about half of all new car sales globally by 2035. It also puts IHG in line with the trend toward a low-carbon economy.
Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of Global Guest Experience at IHG, states, “Through our agreement with EnviroSpark, we’re providing even more options for IHG owners to install EVCs at hotels while making travel easier for sustainability-minded travelers.” Aaron Luque, founder and CEO of EnviroSpark, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting their shared commitment to a sustainable economy and the rising demand for eco-friendly travel options. “We’re honored to join forces with IHG Hotels & Resorts in expanding EV charger availability at their North American properties… Together, we aim to create a seamless and environmentally friendly experience for travelers, contributing to a greener future and bringing us closer to our vision of widespread EV adoption.”
