Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) in Reno, Nev., has unveiled updated plans for its forthcoming arena, signaling a major development in northern Nevada’s sports and entertainment landscape. The new renderings reveal a relocated on-property site, a satellite ice rink, dedicated parking facilities, a fan zone, and several advanced internal design features integrated with GSR’s existing infrastructure.

GSR general manager Shannon Keel emphasized the collaborative effort behind the arena’s design, involving global design firm Gensler and the University of Nevada. “We are making tremendous progress on the design of the arena and amenities and continue to work closely with Gensler and the University of Nevada on all aspects of the arena,” Keel says.

The arena, which will accommodate more than 10,000 spectators, is set to host concerts, basketball games, and other sports, as well as special events. The facility promises a high-end experience with luxury suites, premium clubs, and cutting-edge technology to enhance the fan experience.

Andy Cohen, global co-chair of Gensler, highlighted the arena’s role in energizing Reno’s entertainment scene. “This world-class sports and entertainment arena will create unmatched value for Reno, fostering community through engaging experiences for a wide range of visitors,” he says.

In partnership with the University of Nevada, the arena is poised to become the future home of Nevada Men’s Basketball, offering a world-class venue for the team. Athletic director Stephanie Rempe lauded the project as a “game changer” for Wolf Pack Athletics and the broader community.

This arena is part of GSR’s $1 billion investment aimed at transforming the 140-acre property into a premier sports and entertainment destination in the next decade.
