LOS ANGELES—Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles has appointed Hiren Prabhakar as general manager of its Century City property. With more than 30 years of international hospitality experience, Prabhakar will oversee operations of the 400-room hotel, which reopened in 2021 following a significant redevelopment.
Prabhakar began his career with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Mumbai and later joined the launch team of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. He also worked as F&B director at the Polish Business Round Table Club in Warsaw. His first general manager roles included the openings of Ibb Andersia Hotel in Poland and Barvikha Hotel & Spa in Moscow.
He served as resort manager at the opening of Mövenpick Beach Resort in Saudi Arabia, which was named Best Specialized Resort at the Saudi Excellence in Tourism Awards in 2011. Subsequent roles included leadership positions at InterContinental Lusaka, The St. Regis Moscow, and Toronto Marriott Markham. While at The St. Regis Moscow, Marriott Luxury Brands Europe recognized the property as Hotel of the Year in 2016. In Toronto, Prabhakar was named general manager of the year in 2019, and the hotel’s restaurant and spa later earned accolades within the Marriott portfolio and Forbes rankings.
“I am honored to join Fairmont Century Plaza, a property that represents both a rich legacy and a vibrant presence in Los Angeles,” Prabhakar said. “I look forward to collaborating with this talented team to build on its established excellence and continue delivering world-class experiences that resonate with guests locally and internationally.”
Peter Humig, vice president of Operations for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the Americas, said Prabhakar brings international experience and a focus on leadership. “As Fairmont Century Plaza continues to define the future of luxury hospitality in Los Angeles, Hiren’s vision and passion for advancement make him the perfect steward for this next chapter,” Humig said.
The $2.5 billion redevelopment of Fairmont Century Plaza introduced 63 private residences, Lumière Brasserie, a 14,000-square-foot spa, and more than 24,000 square feet of event space.
