Construction has begun on One Beverly Hills, a 7.08 ha (17.5 acre), $5-billion condominium and hotel complex at Wilshire/Whittier, on Wilshire Blvd., Calif. Developed by Cain International, One Beverly Hills—slated for completion by 2028—is expected to house some of the most expensive condos and hotel suites in the country.
One Beverly Hills will integrate the Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria hotels with condominium high-rises. It will also feature the Aman Hotel, with 78 all-suite guest rooms and Aman-branded residences across the two towers. The complex will also house a 9290.3-m2 (100,000-sf) private members club named Aman Club, with design contributions from Kerry Hill Architects (KHA). The master plan further includes the restoration and enhancement of the Beverly Hilton.
The project will also include 4.5 ha (10 acre) of open space and gardens, curated by Los Angeles-based architecture firm, RIOS. The landscape will showcase more than 200 species of plants and trees native to the California region, including palms, oaks, sycamores, and succulents. About 1.6 ha (4 acres) of the gardens will be exclusively accessible to residents, club members, and hotel guests, and the remaining 1.8 ha (4.5 acres) will be open to the public. The gardens will use harvested rainwater and recycled greywater for irrigation with the aim of achieving 100 percent water sustainability. Other features include walking paths and bike lanes.
