SONOMA COUNTY, Calif.—On August 2, Dry Creek Rancheria and Caesars Entertainment held a groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of River Rock Casino into Caesars Republic Sonoma County. The project marks the start of a long-term partnership, with Caesars selected by the Northern California Indian Tribe to develop and manage the new integrated resort. Financing for the project is being led by Citizens Financial Group, with Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. (GPLI) as the lead real estate financing partner.

Located off Highway 101 above the Alexander Valley Vineyards, the new resort will feature a redesigned casino with more than 1,000 slot machines and 28 table games, alongside a 100-room hotel with a spa, pool, and fitness center. Additional amenities will include multiple dining venues—such as a steakhouse, an upscale café, an Asian restaurant, and a quick-service outlet—alongside a sports bar, fireside lounge, and wine bar with an outdoor deck overlooking the valley.

Chris Wright, chairman of the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, described the development as a significant step forward for the Tribe and local community. “We are proud to work alongside Caesars, Citizens, and GLPI to bring this vision to life and elevate our economic and cultural legacy,” he said. “This project is a powerful step forward, and we are eager to share it with the region and beyond.”

Anthony Carano, president and COO of Caesars Entertainment, said the location was a natural fit for the Caesars Republic brand, following a recent launch in Lake Tahoe. “We’re excited to partner with Dry Creek Rancheria to bring this incredible destination to life and offer a new, elevated, and unique experience for our guests to indulge in, right in the heart of wine country.”

The project also marks new territory for GLPI. “We are proud to be initiating a long-term relationship with Dry Creek Rancheria,” said GLPI chairman and CEO Peter Carlino.

Once completed, Caesars Republic Sonoma County will be integrated into the Caesars Rewards loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem credits across more than 50 Caesars destinations nationwide.
