Anaheim sees growth in tourism ahead of 2028 Olympic Games

ANAHEIM, Calif.—Visit Anaheim, the city’s official destination marketing organization, has announced that 26.3 million visitors traveled to the city in 2024, marking an increase in tourism that brought in $6.6 billion in visitor spending, up 2.3 percent from the previous year. The organization projects visitor spending will rise to $6.7 billion in 2025.

“With the Olympics only three years away, this announcement comes at a critical moment to showcase Anaheim’s growing momentum as we continue to move through the city’s ‘Golden Decade,’” says Mike Waterman, president and CEO of Visit Anaheim. “As the city prepares to host indoor volleyball at Honda Center in 2028, along with milestone developments like OCVIBE and the DisneylandForward expansion, Visit Anaheim is setting the stage to continue breaking visitation records in the coming years.”

Anaheim is expected to benefit from increased tourism leading up to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. As the official home of USA Volleyball, the 2028 Olympics host site for indoor volleyball, and with upcoming upgrades to the Honda Center, the city is preparing to accommodate early visitors for test events, training camps, and related activities.

Visit Anaheim also highlighted long-term development plans, including five new hotels projected to add nearly 1,000 rooms by 2030. The city will host several returning conventions in the coming years, including BlizzCon in 2026, the 50th anniversary of NAMM, Disney’s D23 Expo, and IPW—the U.S. Travel Association’s flagship tourism event—in 2030.

“The return of major conventions and growth in hotel development reflect the strength of Anaheim as the world’s ultimate playground and a premier destination,” Waterman said. “We’re well-positioned to meet future demand and deliver exceptional experiences for both leisure and business travelers coming to Anaheim.”
