Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located 18 miles southwest of the city, with Guadalupe Mountains National Park 40 miles farther southwest, across the Texas border. Popular activities include hiking, golfing, and water recreation. Downtown Carlsbad is home to various hotels, restaurants, shops, and art galleries and hosts numerous festivals throughout the year.
Pecos River Village Conference Center is located in what was previously Presidents Park. Owned by the city and operated by Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, the conference center can host conferences, corporate retreats, and other meetings. Its Carousel House accommodates 200 classroom style, 400 theater style, or 300 banquet style. Five additional conference rooms vary in size, with the larger rooms seating up to 100 theater style. The conference center includes a large commercial kitchen, courtyards, covered dock areas, and beautiful grounds for outdoor functions.
Accommodations include the 104-room Hyatt House Carlsbad, the 80-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Carlsbad, Fairfield Inn & Suites Carlsbad, and Hampton Inn & Suites Artesia, all of which offer meeting space for smaller gatherings.
