White Sands National Park is one such attraction, with glistening white sands and wave-like dunes covering 275 square miles of the desert. Tularosa Basin has the perfect climate for growing pistachios, pecans, and grapes. Numerous wineries and nut farms offer tastings, along with beautiful views of the Sacramento Mountains. New Mexico Museum of Space History gives visitors a glimpse at New Mexico’s role in space travel. The theater is currently closed for construction. Visitors can also enjoy Alameda Park Zoo, the oldest zoo in the Southwest.
More than three dozen restaurants offer a variety of dining options, including pho/Thai and Asian-fusion restaurants, a brewery, burger joints, and bakeries.
The Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center provides meeting facilities, including a 6,000-square-foot auditorium for conventions, seminars, and trade expos. The civic center can accommodate approximately 450 seated guests and includes three conference rooms and a kitchen.
Fairfield Inn & Suites Alamogordo has 565 square feet of event space, while Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alamogordo, an IHG Hotel offers 1,350 square feet of event space.
