The 273-room Doubletree by Hilton is among the largest hotels, with 12,000 square feet of meeting space. The 100-room Marriott-Downtown Springhill Suites has 1,900 square feet of conference space, while the 136-room Courtyard by Marriott Grand Junction has almost 5,000 square feet of meeting space.
The 60-room Hotel Maverick, on the campus of Colorado Mesa University, provides proximity not only to the campus but also to mountains, rivers, hiking trails, and downtown Grand Junction. The hotel features classroom space for up to 35 people and the 2,680-square-foot Grand Terrace, with space for up to 185 guests. It also includes Devil’s Kitchen restaurant, which can be rented for private events of up to 302 guests. In addition, the hotel has access to 20,000 square feet of additional meeting space on the university campus, for events of up to 500 guests.
For outdoor adventures, visitors can take in panoramic views of towering red-rock spires at the Colorado National Monument. The scenic Rim Rock Drive, stretching 23 miles through the national monument, features awe-inspiring vistas. This National Park Service site is often called the “mini Grand Canyon” and is only minutes from downtown Grand Junction.
Visitors can road bike on Rim Rock Drive or hike its 43-plus miles of trails. Cyclists can also take a ride along the Colorado Riverfront Trail, a 28-mile flat path with access to downtown.
Planners can organize group outings to the Dinosaur Journey Museum, part of the Museums of Western Colorado; it features more than 15,000 fossils, an earthquake simulator, and animatronic dinosaurs.
The Museums of Western Colorado also includes Museum of the West and Cross Orchards Historic Site. Exhibits and attractions—including a stagecoach, a one-room schoolhouse, and firearms from the outlaw era—allow visitors to step back in time.
