Aspen

WESTERN COLORADO

AspenChamber.org; VisitAspen; @AspenCO; @AspenChamberWhile it’s a well-known skiing destination, Aspen offers much more as a historical and cultural city. Originally inhabited by the Ute Indians, Aspen became a silver mining town in the late 1800s before it thrived as a ski resort town.

Now, accommodations and venues reflect the town’s history. From small bed-and-breakfasts to grand five-star resorts to condominium hotels, Apsen offers plenty of options for groups.

MOLLIE Aspen, a 68-room boutique hotel, recently received a renovation. Located on Paepcke Park in the heart of Aspen, the hotel’s name honors the town’s most successful silver mine, Mollie Gibson, which originated in the late 19th century and served as a catalyst for the town’s early economic, social, and cultural progress.

The St. Regis Aspen Resort, a Marriott Bonvoy property, is a fully renovated mountainside manor. Its modern alpine aesthetic complements the building’s original Victorian architecture. The hotel features 154 guest rooms, 22 suites, and three specialty suites.
The Aspen Meadows Resort, Salamander Collection spans more than 40 acres and offers 98 guest suites. It features more than 20,000 square feet of IACC-approved meeting space, including the  LEED Gold-certified Doerr-Hosier Center. The resort also has outdoor event space.

The Holden-Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum offers a backdrop of historic mining buildings and lush landscapes, with 4,000 square feet of event space and outdoor venues for up to 150 people.

The Aspen Art Museum can accommodate 250 guests for private events, while the Wheeler Opera House can accommodate up to 475.

Teambuilding and recreation opportunities span a variety of experiences, particularly given the region’s spectacular outdoor setting. Of course, there are amazing winter snow sports. With sunshine, blue skies, and fresh, dry powder, Aspen is a mecca for skiers and snowboarders. The region offers four world-class ski resorts: Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Buttermilk.

The Maroon Bells is a series of distinctively bell-shaped, wine-colored peaks rising more than 14,000 feet above sea level. Its six scenic hiking trails and bike paths are a great way to explore the Aspen outdoors. Aspen Mountain Gondola offers breathtaking views, with easy access from downtown to the summit. The Aspen Outfitting Company offers group activities around the Roaring Fork Valley, including popular flyfishing trips and clay target-shooting excursions. Blazing Adventures offers customized teambuilding experiences, including road rallies, scavenger hunts, rock climbing, rafting, biking, and more.

Aside from skiing and other snow activities, Aspen is also home to challenging golf in gorgeous settings. The Aspen Golf Course is ranked among the top in the United States and No. 1 in Colorado, while the nearby Snowmass Club offers imposing bunkers, challenging greens, and beautifully sculpted fairways.

The Aspen Chamber’s event planning team is equipped with resources and expertise to make any event an unforgettable experience.
