SanDiego.org; @VisitSanDiego—San Diego has long been a favorite among meeting planners, due to its coastal climate, city comforts, and relaxed Southern California culture. The destination’s walkable waterfronts, neighborhoods alive with local flavor, and infrastructure support everything from major conventions to executive retreats.

San Diego’s meeting landscape is anchored by San Diego Convention Center, which supports hybrid, large-scale programming and has earned a reputation for innovation and sustainability. The downtown, waterfront venue features 525,701 square feet of contiguous space, which can be divided into seven halls. It includes the 90,000-square-foot Sails Pavilion, a column-free glass-enclosed space, and 72 meeting rooms. In addition, the convention center boasts 184,514 square feet of outdoor terrace space, ideal for incorporating San Diego’s beauty and sunshine year-round.

Within 1.5 miles of the convention center are 11,000 hotel rooms; across the city, planners will find full-meeting properties like the 671-room Town & Country Resort, which offers 295,050 square feet of meeting and event space and five onsite restaurants. The Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina boasts more than 1,300 guest rooms and 271,000 square feet of function space. Pendry San Diego is a stylish downtown venue located in the Gaslamp Quarter district; it offers 317 guest rooms and 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event and meeting space, including the 8,400-square-foot Grand Ballroom.

The iconic Hotel del Coronado offers more than 96,000 square feet of event space and a signature beachfront setting. In La Jolla, the 210-room Estancia La Jolla—a AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel—provides 47,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, surrounded by lush gardens.

San Diego International Airport (SAN) offers frequent flights—more than 8,000 each month—and the city’s layout connects major meeting corridors, hotels, and venues without long commutes.

Attendees have many downtime options, from beachside networking, harbor cruises, and whale watching to strolling through the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, and other neighborhoods. Hotels and resorts often incorporate wellness, local culinary partnerships, and creative offsite opportunities into their packages.
